This Personal Data Protection Notice ("Notice") describes how Asian Banking School ("ABS") uses your Personal Data

Collection of Personal Data

  1. “Personal Data” means information about you processed by ABS, including without limitation your name, age, gender, nationality, identity card/passport number, your contact details, your image or photograph, your academic and professional credentials, your employer details, and all such other information which may identify you that has been or may be collected, stored, used and processed by ABS from time to time and also includes sensitive personal data (as identified below).

  2. In addition to the Personal Data which is provided by your company, ABS may collect your Personal Data from a variety of sources such as:-
    1. Directly from you when you have been engaged by ABS to provide training services;
    2. When you register for marketing events, forums, conferences, seminars, workshops, training courses and/or certification courses with ABS either through ABS directly or through your employer;
    3. When you access or use ABS’ website (the “Website”);
    4. When you provide your Personal Data when completing certain forms and documents such as registration forms, feedback forms, complaint forms etc;
    5. When you communicate or interact with ABS through social media platforms or social networking sites; and
    6. From third party referrals and agencies;

  3. Your Personal Data may also be collected and processed by ABS in the form of photo capturing or video recording, for the purpose of publications, webcast relay, surveillance of premises or for ABS’ records, as deemed relevant.

  4. The provision of your Personal Data is mandatory. If you do not provide ABS your Personal Data, ABS would not be able to provide products and services to you or engage you to provide services or products to or on behalf of ABS.


Purposes of Processing

  1. ABS may use and process your Personal Data for the purposes relating to its business and activities which shall include (the “Purposes”):-
    1. to engage you to provide services and/or products to ABS or on behalf of ABS;
    2. to process your registrations for marketing events, forums, conferences, seminars, workshops, training courses and/or certification courses;
    3. to relay your registration details to relevant partners of ABS and certification bodies such as the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) and the Financial Markets Association of Malaysia (formerly known as Persatuan Pasaran Kewangan Malaysia - PPKM) for certification purposes;
    4. to help ABS develop its business, activities, products and services;
    5. to invite you to events and functions organised by ABS;
    6. to communicate with you for any of the purposes listed in this Notice;
    7. for internal administrative purposes, such as auditing, data analysis, and to improve ABS’ services;
    8. to process any complaints or feedback you have provided;
    9. for purposes of detection, prevention and prosecution of crime;
    10. for ABS to comply with its obligations under law;

  2. and you agree and consent to ABS using and processing your Personal Data for the Purposes and in the manner as identified in this Notice.

  3. ABS may also use and process your data for other purposes (“Additional Purposes”) such as:-
    1. to take your photograph or picture at events/functions/training sessions organised by ABS for non-profit making reasons including ABS’ newsletter, annual report, the Website, and social media platforms/social networking sites; and
    2. to provide, market and/or promote to you products and services that are or may be offered by ABS and/or its partners.

  4. ABS may contact you for the Purposes and Additional Purposes either by way of telephone calls, emails, short messaging service, post, facsimile, social media or any other form of communication available.


Transfer of Personal Data

  1. Your Personal Data may be transferred to, stored, used and processed in a jurisdiction other than Malaysia for the Purposes and/or where ABS’ servers are located outside of Malaysia. You understand and consent to the transfer of your Personal Data out of Malaysia as described herein.
 


Disclosure to Third Parties

For the Purposes and Additional Purposes, ABS may share your Personal Data with:

  1. ABS’ members, students and customers for purposes of promoting the services and products you provide or supply;
  2. ABS’ third party service providers for the purposes of carrying out their services;
  3. ABS’ partners, such as other certification bodies;
  4. ABS’ professional advisors and external auditors;
  5. ABS’ committees, tribunals and personnel/staff;
  6. any agent acting on behalf of ABS;
  7. statutory and regulatory authorities in order to comply with statutory and government requirements.



Use of Cookies

  1. ABS may use cookies which are small text files which the Website may place on your computer or mobile device when you visit the Website. For example, ABS may collect your IP address, web browser software (such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari or Chrome) and store the details in a unique encrypted cookie. The cookie will help the Website, or another referring website, to authenticate current user access and recognise your device the next time you visit the Website. This will allow ABS to retrieve your account and preferences, login/application details, analyse how well the Website is performing, or even allow ABS to recommend content ABS believes will be most relevant to you.

  2. Most browsers allow you to choose not to receive a cookie file by enabling your web browser to refuse cookies or prompt you before accepting a cookie. Be advised that, by refusing to accept a cookie, you may not be able to access many services and tools offered on the Website.

  1. The Website may contain links to third party websites. Please note that ABS is not responsible for the collection, use, maintenance, sharing, or disclosure of data and information by such third parties. If you provide information directly to such sites, the privacy policy and terms of service on those sites are applicable and ABS is not responsible for the information processing practices or privacy policies of such sites.



Access & Correction Requests and Inquiries

  1. Subject to any exceptions under applicable laws, you may request access or correction to your Personal Data held by ABS, submit your queries or complaints about the processing of your Personal Data, limit the processing of your Personal Data for the Additional Purposes and/or withdraw your consent for the Additional Purposes by contacting:-

In respect of your right to access and/or correct your Personal Data, ABS has the right to refuse your request to access and/or make any correction to your Personal Data for the reasons permitted under law, such as where expense of providing access to you is disproportionate to the risks to your privacy. ABS also reserves the right to impose a fee for access of your Personal Data in the amounts as permitted under law.

  3. In some circumstances you may have provided personal data relating to other individuals (such as your spouse, family members or friends) and in such circumstances you represent and warrant that you are authorised to provide their personal data to ABS and you have obtained their consent for their personal data to be processed and used in the manner as set forth in this Notice.


Acknowledgement and Consent

  1. ABS shall have the right to modify, update or amend the terms of this Notice at any time by notifying you or by placing the updated Notice on the Website. By continuing to communicate with ABS, or by your continuing relationship with ABS following the modifications, updates or amendments to this Notice, such actions shall signify your acceptance of such modifications, updates or amendments.

  2. In the event of any conflict between the version in English and other language versions, the English version shall prevail.
