This talk by Professor Dr Colyn Gardner, CEO of the Asian Banking School, was originally held in-person on 3 May 2024 as part of the FSTEP Prominent Leaders Session. In it, he discusses some thoughts around decision-making.
Colyn explores Professor Daniel Kahneman’s two systems of decisions; critics the Efficient Market Hypothesis; and suggests a better way of making international choices than traditional corporate finance methods, based on his PhD thesis.
The talk also examines how elements of behavioural finance can improve decision-making and touches on the need to recognise cognitive biases and heuristics.
Finally, it ends with a comment or two on Artificial Intelligence and its impact on neo-classical economics; in a light-hearted conclusion.
