Dr. NS Chin is currently a trainer and consultant for small, medium enterprise (SME) in the area of fund raising. He is also facilitating Bank Business Credit (Level 2 of Chartered Banker Certification), Intermdediate Green Finance and FSTEP programme related to central banking in ensuring financial stability at Asian Banking School.
A PhD holder in Finance graduated from Multimedia University, Dr. Chin produced a thesis entitled “Prediction of Corporate Failure: A Study of Malaysian Corporate Sector” which is related to credit risk management.
Dr. Chin had served Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) for 29 years in various capacities. He has started as banking supervisor to regulate and supervise all banking institutions in Malaysia and followed by involvement in Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee (CDRC) during the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997. In CDRC, he has collaborated with Rating Agency Malaysia to restructure many corporate debts of Public Listed companies and Governemnt Link Corporations.
In 2006, Dr. Chin was seconded to Agensi Kaunseling Dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) and headed Ipoh branch for 2 years. Finally, as a performance consultant, he was tasked to strengthen the capacity building of BNM staff in their core areas include risk management, financial inclusion, sustainable development and economic policy development.
Dr. Chin is a certified trainer by both Association for Talent Development in USA and Human Resource Development Corporation in Malaysia.
As a part-time senior lecturer with Universiti Malaya, Dr. Chin has conducted numerous face-to-face classes primarily on international banking, financial economics, monetary economics, international finance & emerging economic market.
Dr. Chin holds an associate membership of Asian Institute of Chartered Banker.
